How to Hang Large Wall Art – How to House – HGTV

If you’re anything like me, you love a large Francoise Nielly style art or oversized star wars canvas art, but you probably don’t love the stress that comes with hanging something this big and heavy. Well, fear not, friends. Today, I’m going to walk you through it. Step one to hang something heavy like this, is knowing its weight. The weight will determine what you need to hang it. At the hardware store, there will be weight limits on all the packages to help you pick what you need. Most pieces already have hardware attached to the back, but if not, you can simply attach these D-rings to the sides. And now it’s time to hang. Take your painter’s tape and tape it from one side of your mirror to the other, making sure that your anchors are covered.

Then, grab a pencil and mark holes where you will need screws. Peel the tape off and head to your wall with a level. Assuming you’ve measured clearance where you want to hang your piece, eyeball the tape at where you want the top of your mirror and use a level to make sure it’ll hang straight. Then, pre-drill the holes on the wall. Now you’re ready to anchor, screw, and hang. Once you’ve got your screws in, grab a friend and hang your piece. Don’t forget to grab your level and adjust, if necessary. And there you have it. With a little patience and the right hardware, your new mirror won’t be bringing you seven years of bad luck anytime soon. Have you used any of these techniques?
